This mobile game lets you play your favorite Slam Dunk characters

For most "Batang 90s" or the next generation that followed, Japanese sports anime "Slam Dunk" is something that became part of their youth.

The famous manga series created by Takehiko Inoue became a testament over time for all the anime lovers, basketball fans, and the mix of both.

Slam Dunk was aired on Philippine television and many witnessed the humble beginnings of freshman student Hanamichi Sakuragi alongside his teammates in the Shohoku High basketball team.

In the Tagalog-dubbed adaptation, Hanamichi earned the iconic moniker "Hari ng Rebound" and still rings a bell up to this time.

Now, Slam Dunk fans are in for a treat of nostalgia as its self-titled mobile game was recently launched by developer DeNA Hong Kong Limited in both iOS and Android.

Officially licensed by Toei Animation, the studio that produced Slam Dunk, the mobile game features numerous gameplay modes that follow the original story of the series.

Battle Mode lets users compete with other players online in half-court 3v3, full-court 3v3, full-court 5v5, 2v2, and one-on-one matches while Ranked games are fixed in half-court 3v3.

Story Mode provides clips and narrations from the anime itself, proceeding to the actual gameplay for rewards and new chapters through level-ups.

Slam Dunk characters also have their signature skillset from the series such as the slam dunks of Sakuragi, Kaede Rukawa, and Takenori Akagi, the speedy plays, and flashy passes of Ryota Miyagi, and the sharpshooting skills of Hisashi Mitsui and Kiminobu Kogure.

Other players from different teams like Ryonan's ace Akira Sendoh and center Jun Uozumi are also available while others are unlockable through in-game payments.

As the user levels up and the story progresses, characters may also be enhanced to further their skill set and proficiency in the court.

Both playable in Japanese and English dubbed versions, SLAM DUNK mobile has gained a 4.6-star rating and a million downloads in Google Play since last week as of this writing.
