Rita Avila recalls memorable encounter with Maricel Soriano

Avid fans of the Diamond Star Maricel Soriano and veteran actress-book author Rita Avila are excitedly waiting for what's to come when the two stars intertwine in ABS CBN's "Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin."

But in contrast to what most people see is the kind and gentle nature of the Diamond Star, in which Rita shared last night, in an online media conference.

Rita recalled one of her first encounters with Maricel was when she appeared in her show in the 80s.

"Ever since, Maricel had been very kind to me, di ba sinasabing 'TarayÂ Queen' siya? Pero as a newcomer when I met her, kindness talaga -- yun ang naramdaman ko."

"Makuwento ko lang. Noong nag-guest ako du'n sa Maricel Drama Studio, sabi niya: 'Si Rita pala ang guest, sana sinabi niyo para nakapagdala ako ng mga damitâ€¦ Okay, isuot mo na lang muna 'tong singsing ko."

"Eh ang laki ng bato, sabi ko sa yaya ko: 'Yaya 'wag mo 'nang titigan yung mukha ko kung oily ba ako o ano; basta titigan mo lang 'tong singsing kasi hindi pwede mawala 'to."

Avila, 52, said that she is happy working with Maricel.

"Mag-kaibigan kami, mabait siya sa 'kin at alam 'kong magkaka-basahan kami bilang mga aktres."
