'Tis the season of rediscovering meaningful connections at home

There’s no denying how much importance Filipinos put to deep-rooted traditions and these include the celebration of the holiday season. The usual festivities might be different this time given all the challenges Filipinos have endured but the true meaning behind the most wonderful time of the year remains and still revolves around stronger connections and the love for family.

As a household name for many Filipino families, PLDT Home once again brings the message of hope in a special Christmas video. This year, the brand banks on the value of ‘malasakit’ and how the spirit of giving encompasses distance and goes beyond smartphone and laptop screens.
The past few months have been proof that apart from keeping people connected, the Internet plays a crucial role in how one can share blessings to others.


Celebrity families who are among the many people who continue to go out of their own ways to be of help to their fellow Filipinos expressed how despite the limitations brought about by the pandemic, a trusty and stable internet connection made it possible for them to pay it forward.

Renowned Filipino musician, the "Maestro" Ryan Cayabyab, agrees that sharing is the true meaning and joy of Christmas. He recounted how a simple handmade gift from his friend, an ornament which now hangs as one of their Christmas tree decorations, gives him joy everytime he sees it. "For me, the joy of music and songs is what I can share this Christmas season. Galingsapuso," Mr. C, who penned a number of popular holidays songs like "Kumukutikutitap" said.

For beauty queen and inspirational speaker Nicole Cordoves, she appreciates how holidays under the new normal appear to be slower, giving her ample time to add a personal touch to Christmas
presents. "I want to be extra thoughtful this year with everything we've been through. I hope your holidays will be extra special too!," Cordoves said.

TV host Carla Lizardo, meanwhile, mentioned how the year 2020 reminded her to find happiness in simple moments. "Despite not being able to physically spend time with my family and friends, we can continue to
share quality time online. There's so much joy that comes from having a cup of hot chocolate while sharing stories with my loved ones through video call," Lizardo said.
