DAVAO CITY - Around 9,000 residents in Mindanao received Christmas food packs from SM Supermalls as part of its gift-giving activities to underserved communities nationwide.
Two gift-giving activities were held Saturday, December 19, in Davao City's villages, including Barangay Mintal in Tugbok District and Barangay Baguio Proper in Baguio District, where beneficiaries were mainly persons with disabilities (PWDs) and their families.
"This is part of SM's way of giving back to the community that we have served and we are serving," said Oliver John R. Tiu, SM Supermalls Vice President for Operations in Mindanao.
Each Kalinga gift pack contained rice and canned goods. The distribution of Kalinga gift-packs was held in coordination with SM affiliates, including SM Department Store and SM Supermarket.
A total of 214 food packs were distributed in Barangay Mintal, while close to 500 food packs were given to residents in Barangay Baguio Proper.
Tiu said more than 9,000 food packs were distributed in Mindanao. SM Supermalls hope to distribute 70,000 Christmas packs throughout the country.
