Thirdy's San-En battles Durham-led Niigata in B.League

Thirdy Ravena and the San-En Neophoenix return home this weekend to play two B.League games against a Niigata Albirex team reinforced by three-time PBA Best Import Allen Durham.

The Neophoenix and Niigata face off for the first time at 4 p.m. Saturday before wrapping up the two-game series at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Toyohashi City Central Gymnasium.

It will be the first set of games for Ravena since he was selected to play in next month’s B.League All-Star Game. He is also scheduled to compete in the Slam Dunk Contest during the said festivities.

San-En carries a 4-17 record after sweeping the two-game series with Levanga Hokkaido on the road last weekend.

Ravena, who recently turned 24, saw limited playing minutes in the twin wins over Hokkaido in his return after testing positive for COVID-19.

His minutes could improve this time as San-En battles a Niigata side carrying a 6-15 record.

Among the players to watch for Niigata is Durham, who is known for his role as a resident import of the Meralco Bolts in the PBA.

Durham has produced 17.7 points, 10.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists in six games with Albirex.
