San Beda's Joshua Tagala relishes brief stint as 'pro player' in Omega Crossover

San Beda University cager Joshua Tagala relished a joyous experience as he and Smart Omega veteran Kenneth Jiane "Kenji" Villa fueled Team Joneeeel's victory to cap off the series of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang exhibition games in the Omega Crossover. 

With Kenji's Claude and Tagala's Hilda at the forefront, Team Joneeeel pulled off a 2-1 win against Team One Big Fight featuring Ateneo guard SJ Belangel on Wednesday night. 

Kenji, a standout of SEA Games gold-winning team Sibol, put up eight kills and seven assists against two deaths while Tagala tallied 11 assists and four kills against four deaths in the hard-earned 22-17 win in 18 minutes.

More than the triumph, Tagala was grateful to have participated in the friendly games.

"Masaya kasi 'yung mga athletes na nakasama ko at mga pro players, lahat sila mababait," he said. "Magandang experience para sa'min 'to at sana next time makasali ulit kami." 

Tagala's teammate and Gilas Pilipinas player Kenmark Cariño powered Team White's 2-0 sweep of Team Green in the all-amateur match of the final day. 

Cariño went ham with his Chou as he chalked 15 kills and eight assists against two deaths to lift his squad to a 12-minute romp. 

PLDT Home Fibr's Richard Solis also played solid on his Valir, contributing 12 kills for Team White which was also composed of teammate Johnvic De Guzman and Ateneo's Dave Ildefonso. 

Bannering Team Green were Belangel, NU's Shaun Ildefonso and Chino Mosqueda, La Salle's Emman Galman and PLDT's Mark Alfafara.

The three-day Omega Crossover, which was part of the esports team's 12 Days of Christmas Event, featured the MPL-Phiilippines Season 6 runners-up and 12 athletes. 

Kenji, Jeniel "Haze" Bata-anon, Adrian "Toshi" Bacallo, Salic "Hadjizy" Imam, Earvin "Heath" Esperanza, Jankurt "KurtTzy" Matira, Anthony "Otit" Senedrin and coach Steven "Daledalus" Vitug represented Omega Esports. 

La Salle cager Kevin Quiambao and PLDT volleyball player Joshua Umandal also joined the event. 

The exhibitions served as a breather for Omega players before plunging to the playoffs of The Nationals on Saturday and starting their rigorous training for the MLBB World Championship (M2) next month in Singapore.
