UP10TION’s Xiao tests positive for COVID-19, K-pop band’s third member to get infected

K-pop boy band UP10TION’s Xiao tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to become the third member of the group to contract it after Bitto and Kogyeol.  

TOP Media, the group’s agency, announced on Dec. 15 the test results of all UP10TION members. 

Bitto was confirmed to have the virus on Nov. 30 followed by Kogyeol on Dec. 1. According to the agency, Bitto and Kogyeol stayed at designated facilities and were discharged on Dec. 13 and 14 according to instructions of health authorities. 

In the COVID-19 test conducted at the time of their release, Bitto tested negative and Kogyeol tested positive. Kogyeol is asymptomatic and non-infectious, and was informed by health authorities that he can start his activities again but he needs to undergo self-isolation and additional tests. 

In addition, the agency said, Kuhn, Sunyoul, Gyujin, Hwanhee and Xiao got additional COVID-19 tests on Dec. 14 after finishing two weeks of self-quarantine. 

On Dec. 15, the test results showed Kuhn, Sunyoul, Gyujin, Hwanhee are negative of the disease while Xiao is positive. Under self-quarantine, Xiao lived in a separate location without any contact and is asymptomatic. He will undergo additional tests at a later date based on the guidelines by health authorities, the agency said. 

Xiao is the eighth Korean singer to contract COVID-19 after Bitto, Kogyeol, Chungha, trot singer Lee Chan-won, Everglow’s Yiren and Sihyeon and Supernova’s Yoonhak.
