Amb. Chua named ‘Most Influential Man of the Year’


Businessman and former Ambassador Francis Chua has been named by the Philippine Cancer Society Inc. (PCSI) as 2020 Most Influential Man of the Year.

The recognition is given annually by the PCSI to individuals who have made valuable contribution to the cause of the group.

Chua is currently chairman emeritus of the country’s largest business group the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), the country’s voice of business. He also served as president of the Chamber of the Philippine Islands, the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Industry, and PCCI.

As business leader, Chua works with philanthropists to reach out to those with less in life.  During the pandemic, Chua’s BA Foundation distributed to frontliners  personal protective equipment, face masks, face shields, testing kits and supplements.  

Chua is also a member of TzuChi Foundation which recently distributed P1 billion for families affected by typhoons Rolly and Ulysses in Marikina and Rizal. 

In his acceptance speech, Chua said he was humbled by the recognition stressing, “There are more influential men of our country and so much larger than me.”

He said, he will continue to work with the business community to work with other philanthropists to help the less privileged and victims of natural calamities.

“It is very humbling to contribute to such humanitarian efforts,” he concluded.
