POPCOM, CHR eye male involvement in family health care, protection
BUTUAN CITY - The Commission on Population, Development Caraga, and the Commission on Human Rights are eyeing active male involvement in maternal and child health as well as responsible parenting towards the elimination of violence against women and children.
During a two-day session on a Kalalakihang Tapat sa Responsibilidad at Obligasyon sa Pamilya (KATROPA) here, KATROPA gathered regional male officials and employees from different line agencies of the government.
“This activity is also in support of the celebration of the 18th Day campaign to end violence against women,” POPCOM 13 Regional Director Alexander A. Makinano told the Manila Bulletin on Monday.
The second batch of attendees were the male employees coming from the different departments of the city government.
“We are promoting this program to make our male more involved in maternal and child health care despite the threat of the pandemic,” Makinano said.
The Department of Health (DOH) in Caraga region is also sustaining its campaign on HIV-AIDS awareness despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
The regional office of the DOH-CHD has encouraged the public to visit health centers for free HIV-AIDS tests.
