Jesy Nelson has left Little Mix after nine years of being in the group.

In a letter posted on Instagram, the singer said she decided to leave the girl band to take care of herself and her mental health.
“The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health. I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group nad living up to expectations very hard,” the singer wrote.
“There comes a time on my life when we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves rather than focusing on making other people happy, and I feel like now is the time to begin that process. So after much consideration and with a heavy heart, I’m announcing I’m leaving Little Mix,” Nelson added.
Nelson said she needs to spend time with the people she loves and do things that make her happy.
“I’m ready to embark on a new chapter in my life - I’m not sure what it’s going to look like right now, but I hope you'll still be there to support me,” Nelson told fans in her letter.
The singer also thanked the group’s fans — Mixers — for supporting her and Little Mix for the past nine years.
“To every single fan who come to see us in concert, who listened to our songs and sun their hearts out, sent me messages and supported me along the way I want you to know I love you all so much and I could have never done this without you and I appreciate it endlessly,” she wrote.
Nelson likewise thanked her fellow bandmates Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock for creating “some of the most amazing memories” with her that she will “never forget.”
“I hope that you’ll continue to fulfil all of your dreams and keep on making music that people love,” she said.
Edwards, Thirlwall, and Pinnock for their part said Nelson’s departure from the Little Mix is an “incredibly sad time” for the group.
"We are fully supportive of Jesy. We love her very much and agree that it is so important that she does what is right for her mental health and well-being,” the three wrote on Little Mix’s official social media pages.
The three meanwhile assured fans that they will continue to make music together as Little Mix.
“We are still very much enjoying our Little Mix journey and the 3 of us are not ready for it to be over,” the three wrote.
“We know that Jesy leaving the group is going to be really upsetting news for our fans. We love you guys so much and are so grateful for your loyalty and continued support of all of us. We’re looking forward to seeing so many of you on tour,” Edwards, Thirlwall, and Pinnock added.
Little Mix is an award-winning British girl group formed in The X-Factor in 2011. They were also the first group to ever win the competition.
Among the group's hit songs include “DNA,” “Secret Love Song,” “Wings,” “Black Magic,” “Shoutout to My Ex,” and more.
Last November 6, the group released their sixth album “Confetti.”
