Bong Nebrija, MMDA's EDSA traffic chief, said that the truck ban has reduced the traffic congestion being experienced during the holiday season.

" particularly from North Avenue to Magallanes, both directions, where total truck ban is implemented," he said.

MMDA said the return of the truck ban seeks to alleviate the heavy traffic in the metropolis.

Metro Manila mayors pushed for the reimposition of the truck ban due to an increased number of vehicles during the holidays.

In the truck ban scheme, large trucks are not allowed on major roads in Metro Manila from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. from Mondays to Saturdays.

The MMDA said that the truck ban is suspended on Sundays and holidays on major thoroughfares in the metropolis except for EDSA.

Trucks are prohibited on EDSA, from Magallanes Interchange in Makati City to North Ave. in Quezon City, from Monday to Sunday.
