ILOILO CITY—Market vendors in this city received bicycles, food packs and other necessary items from Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go to help ease the socio-economic impact of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“Your cooperation is very important in the government efforts to combat this challenge,” said Go in a virtual message during the recent turnover of donations at the Freedom Grandstand.
A total of 2,597 vendors from the Arevalo Public Market, Iloilo Central Market, Jaro Small Market, Jaro Big Market, La Paz Public Market and Mandurriao Public Market were also given face masks, face shields and vitamins.
Go reiterated to the vendors how it was still imperative to follow minimum public health standards, including wearing face masks and face shields while washing hands frequently, and practicing physical distancing.
“We are still not safe right now from COVID-19,” Go added.
Aside from the necessities, Go’s team distributed computer tablets for some of the vendors who have children so that it can help in their online classes.
Meanwhile, Go also reminded the vendors they can avail of various forms of assistance being offered at the Malasakit Center at the Western Visayas Medical Center. The center is a one-stop shop where the public can seek help from Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
