Winners at the 2020 The Fact Music Awards

The 2020 The Fact Music Awards ceremony was held on Dec. 12 to honor Korean artists with BTS and Super Junior emerging as the biggest winners.
K-pop superstars BTS won the daesang, or grand prize, the highest honor. This is their third consecutive year to bag the daesang, winning it for the first time in 2018. The award was based on music and record score from Gaon Music Chart data, 40 percent, and judges’ score, 60 percent.

BTS won three other awards: Listener’s Choice (music and record score, 60 percent, and judges’ score, 40 percent), and Year’s Artist and Worldwide Icon, both based on music and record score, 40 percent, and judges’ score, 60 percent.

Besides BTS, the Year’s Artist, or artist of the year, award was given to Kang Daniel, Seventeen, Mamamoo, Mamamoo’s Hwasa, GOT7, IZ*ONE, TWICE, NU’EST, Monsta X and Super Junior. Seventeen also won the Worldwide Icon award.

K-pop boy band Super Junior, which celebrated their 15th anniversary, also won four awards. Besides the Year’s Artist, they also took home the TMA Popularity Award based on fan votes. According to the ranking on the Fan N Star app, Super Junior took first place with 493,262 votes, or 40 percent, followed by BTS with 476,167 (39 percent); Kang Daniel with 58,440 votes, or 5 percent; Seventeen, 29,239 (2 percent) and Monsta X, 25,311 (2 percent).

They also won the fan-voted Fan N Star Choice Award Singer, getting 1.96 million votes (37 percent) to place first in the ranking followed by BTS with 1.62 million votes (31 percent) and trot singer Lim Young-woong with 510,385 votes (10 percent). Super Junior also won the Fan N Star Most Voted Singer award.
