DPWH completes P92-million access road leading to Biliran tourist spot
NAVAL, Biliran - The Department of Public Works and Highways-Biliran District Engineering Office (DPWH-BDEO) has completed the access road leading to an emerging tourist spot in this province, a report from DPWH-BDEO, based in this capital town, said.
DPWH-BDEO District Engineer David P. Adongay Jr., told reporters that the road opening and concreting of the access road leading to Germohenes Falls in Pinangomhan Village in Biliran town was already completed.
Adongay said Germohenes Falls had been one of the undeveloped tourist destinations in the province because of its inaccessibility. Estimated walking time to reach the said waterfalls takes four to five hours.
But with the construction of the 2.9-kilometer road and a 60-meter local road, travel time to the tourist spot will be substantially less.
He said travel time will be reduced to just five to 10 minutes, initially on a vehicle, then another 30 minutes by foot to reach the waterfalls.
“This project also provides a safe and faster transport of farm products to the market centers such as coconut, rice, and corn and a convenient travel for the residents and farmers in going to Naval, the capital town, and to other neighboring municipalities,” Adongay said.
