Mayor Carmelita Abalos said the local government prepared 200,000 grocery boxes for this year’s gift-giving activity.

To prevent the crowding of people at the City Hall Complex, Abalos ordered that the gift boxes be delivered to the homes of residents similar to how relief packs were distributed during the lockdown period.

Aside from city-born residents, Abalos said renters as well as those staying in apartments and condominiums in the city will also receive gift boxes.

“Wala na pong pilang mangyayari dito sa City Hall. At lahat po ng pamilyang nakatira sa lungsod ay mabibigyan kahit na kayo ay renter, sharer, o nakatira sa condo o subdivision (There will be no queueing at City Hall. And all families living in the city will be given whether you are a renter, sharer, or living in a condo or subdivision),” she assured.

The Christmas gift boxes contain assorted canned goods, rice, instant noodles, coffee, salt, sugar, spaghetti sauce and pasta, peanut butter, face masks, and face shields.

"Maituturing natin itong panghuling ayuda sa taong ito kaya lahat ng pamilyang Mandaleño ay bibigyan natin (We can consider this the final aid this year so we will give all Mandaleño families),” Abalos said.

The gift packs were sent to all 27 barangays in the city for proper distribution in accordance with the minimum health protocols amid the ongoing threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
