Manila LGU awarded 2nd place for 'Best in Customer Empowerment'
The Manila City government bagged second place in the "Best in Customer Empowerment" award category of the Digital Governance Awards (DGA) 2020 on Friday.

The award was given in recognition of the city's Go Manila application, an official application of the city government that residents can use to pay taxes, among others, online.
In a statement, Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said the application was launched to lessen corruption in the government by minimizing physical contact.Â

Domagoso said this also helps people stay indoors amid the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
"Maraming salamat sa mga judges sa inyong (Thank you very much to the judges for your) appreciation in our own little effort to really, one way or another, stop corruption with lesser human intervention in government services," he said.
The DGA is an annual event that recognizes the best practices of local government units in using Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for governance.
It is held by the Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Information and Communications Technology, and National ICT Confederation of the Philippines.
