Despite the current health and safety protocols that forbid mass gatherings or face-to-face parties, we're grateful for online platforms that help us virtually celebrate festivities. Going virtual, however, doesn’t mean holiday parties can’t be enjoyed and party guests can’t look glam and have fun, right?

Just recently, Manila Bulletin Lifestyle Online and Ever Bilena held a webinar entitled “Socially Distant Socials: Glam Up Your Virtual Holiday Parties” with some of the best beauty, fashion, and events stylists in the country. Together, they gave various tips on how to make Christmas parties awesome even if done in front of the screen of any digital device, whether
desktop/laptop, tablet or mobile phone.
Moderated by Jane Kingsu-Cheng, MB Lifestyle Online’s Sub-editor, the webinar speakers Janeena Chan, TV host and influencer, Edlene Cabral, celebrity and fashion stylist, and Janna Pablo, event stylist and the owner of Pabys Creative Ideas Inc., all gave helpful tips on how to make virtual holiday parties be fab, merry and fun.

Holiday touch-up
Janeena showed how to get dolled up by playing with different makeup looks for the holidays—be it for family parties or celebrations with the girls, officemates or barkada, using all-time favorite Ever Bilena products. For Edlene, it’s about giving webinar attendees ideas on what to wear and stand out, even in an online holiday party. It’s all about looking for the perfect peg or inspiration for the look. Choose from holiday staples and trends such as metallic, sequins, or mix-and-match with what’s already inside the closet. She also presented some sample looks like the current autumn look since the cold weather is settling in and how to liven up the virtual parties. Choosing the right colors can add to the holiday vibe. Try jewel tones like emerald, amethyst, purple, mustard, teal, or blue, but that shouldn’t stop one from wearing black. She also gave do's and don'ts on holiday party dressing, and even pairing the right accessories for a particular look.

Host with the most
Finally, being the perfect host, Janna shared some party or event trends, what to do to the home to make the party extra special, even coming up with care packages she calls “ayuda." Home and Drive-by events should have a focal area that should be decorated—this is where everyone will most likely have their photos taken. There should be no pressure for decorations, she said, but it’s more about feeling good about one’s self. What’s important is being honest and coming up with activities that can make the party memorable, creating something and making it part of the
celebration. She also added that even the look of the party guests should go with the party’s colors. There’s really no formula in holding a virtual party as long as everyone enjoys and has fun.
