Greg Slaughter congratulated Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on its latest PBA championship that came following Wednesday’s victory over TNT in Game 5 of the Philippine Cup Finals.

Slaughter took to Twitter to offer a short message to the only team he played since his pro debut in 2013 before deciding to take a break earlier this year.

“Congratulations, fellas! Way to get it! (trophy emoji) #NSD (Never Say Die),” Slaughter tweeted.

The 7-footer left for the United States after his contract with Ginebra expired at the end of its 2019 Governors’ Cup title run.

He spent the first few months of the pandemic being trained by former NBA scout Gary Boyson in Daytona Beach, Florida and even signed with a Serbian-based sports agency which represents Denver star Nikola Jokic.

Despite his absence, Slaughter kept rooting for Ginebra to bag the only title available this season which was held under a bubble setup due to the pandemic.

Coach Tim Cone, who had conversations with Slaughter since his decision, is hoping that the former Rookie of the Year and one-time Best Player of the Conference can make a comeback for the PBA’s 46th season in 2021.
