ENHYPEN (BELIFT LAB)

K-pop boy band ENHYPEN received their first music award nomination, entered the Billboard charts and posted the highest first-week sales among rookie acts that debuted this year, which all happened in just a little over a week.

High1 Seoul Music Awards announced the nominees for its 30th awards ceremony that will be held in January.

ENHYPEN got nominated for Rookie of the Year, based on albums and digital music records on Hanteo Chart released from January to December this year. The award will be chosen based on judges’ score, 40 percent; album and song sales, 30 percent; and mobile votes, 30 percent.

The new boy band released their debut album “Border: Day One,” and the songs in the album entered Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales for the Dec. 12-dated chart. The main track “Given-Taken” debuted at No. 13 on chart while “Let Me in (20 Cube)” and “Flicker” ranked 24th and 25th. “Let Me In” also ranked 25th on Billboard’s LyricFind Global chart.

Based on Hanteo Chart, “Border: Day One” sold 229,991 copies on the first day of release on Nov. 30, enough to rank third in the monthly album chart for November. It also sold 280,873 copies in the first week of release, the highest first-week sales among rookie artists that debuted this year, according to Hanteo Chart.

The album became No. 1 on Japan’s Oricon daily album chart on Dec. 4 and placed second overall in the weekly album chart for the period Nov. 30 to Dec. 6 with 71,404 copies in sales.

During ENHYPEN’s debut showcase on Nov. 30, Jake talked about their goals, saying, “We want to debut with good music and performance and return the love of our fans. Our other goal is to win the new artist award.”

ENHYPEN will be performing at the 2021 New Years Eve Live concert on Dec. 31 together with BTS, NU’EST, TXT, Bumzu, Lee Hyun and GFriend with special guests Halsey, Lauv, Steve Aoki and Shin Hae-chul.
