The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is suspending investigation to give taxpayers a worry-free and meaningful Christmas celebration.

BIR Commissioner Caesar Dulay signed Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 127 instructing taxmen to halt field operations from Dec. 15 to Jan. 7.
The BIR chief asked revenuers to use the three-week break to do office work and complete submission of field reports.
However, the bureau will continue the audit of tax evasion cases, those prescribing before April 15, 2021, retiring businesses, and government offices and companies.
It will also continue processing estate, donor's, and capital gains tax returns and the withholding tax on the sale of real properties and shares of stocks.
Dulay said fieldmen should also monitor "tiangge" stores enjoying brisk business this holiday season.
To ensure maximum revenue collections, Dulay said taxmen should also pursue the information drive on the availment of the tax amnesty on delinquencies and the Voluntary Assessment and Payment Program.
