Shell bags “Legal In-House Team of the Year” award from Asian Legal Business

The legal team of Shell companies in the Philippines (SCiP) has been scoring victories, as it just recently bagged the “Philippine In-House Team of the Year” and the “Energy and Resources In-House Team of the Year” awards from the Philippine Law Awards 2020 by the Asian Legal Business (ALB).

The awards were received by Atty Kiril Caral, head of legal of Shell Philippines; along with his predecessor Atty Jannet Regalado. The awards were conferred November 20 this year.

As highlighted by Atty Caral, the recognition bequeathed on his SCiP team had been exceptionally symbolic of the company’s triumphs this year given the challenges that they had to grapple with because of the impact on businesses of the niggling health crisis.

“We are all affected by the disruption, uncertainty and anxiety from the Covid-19 pandemic,” Caral stated, adding that “the coming months, if not years, will continue to be filled with challenges.”

The Shell legal luminary highlighted that “despite the many obstacles, the Shell companies in the Philippines continue to power progress by supplying the energy needs of Filipinos – for transportation by land, air and sea, and to power our homes, businesses and industry.”

Through all the provocations of a crisis and the drawbacks that come with it, Caral asserted that he is “proud of the Shell legal team’s contribution to our business partners, and for demonstrating continued resilience, care and commitment.”

This is already the second time for Shell Philippines legal team to clinch the “In-House Team of the Year” award, the first one was at the Philippine Law Awards in 2016.

The year 2020 is notably a ‘transformational phase’ for Shell Philippines, with landscape changes being pursued on its businesses – both in the upstream and downstream core of its operations.
