Man gunned down in front of church in Manila


A man previously arrested for drug and illegal possession of firearm charges was shot dead by an unidentified gunman in front of a church in Tondo, Manila on Tuesday.

Police identified the victim as Alexander Rivera, 34, and a resident of the area.

He was arrested twice for violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

According to a police report, Rivera was riding his motorcycle along H. Lopez Boulevard in Tondo, Manila at around 4 a.m.

The gunman, who was reportedly waiting for the victim in the opposite direction, shot him multiple times, hitting his head and body.

Rivera was brought to the Tondo Medical Center but he died while receiving treatment. 

Investigation is ongoing.
