#ThisHappened: Twitter names top 10 most tweeted K-pop accounts globally in 2020

Twitter has revealed the top 10 most tweeted K-pop accounts globally and most tweeted about people worldwide in 2020.

According to Twitter, the top 10 Most Tweeted K-pop accounts globally in 2020 are:

1. BTS (@bts_twt)
2. EXO (@weareoneEXO)
3. BLACKPINK (@BLACKPINK)
4. Seventeen (@pledis_17)
5. GOT7 (@GOT7Official)
6. NCT 127 (@NCTsmtown_127)
7. TXT (@TXT_members)
8. ATEEZ (@ATEEZofficial)
9. Treasure (@treasuremembers)
10. Stray Kids (@Stray_Kids)

This is the fourth consecutive year that BTS topped the list, according to the Twitter Korea blog. BLACKPINK is the only girl group in the top 10.

In addition, BTS grabbed sixth place in the 2020 Most Tweeted About People Worldwide list based on tweets from Jan. 1 to Nov. 15.

The 2020 Most Tweeted About People Worldwide, according to Twitter, are:

2. US President-elect Joe Biden
3. George Floyd
4. Kobe Bryant
5. Former US President Barack Obama

7. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi

10. US Vice President-elect Kamala Harris

K-pop boy band BTS’ member Jungkook’s cover of Lauv’s “Never Not” posted on May 3, 2020 also emerged as the second most retweeted tweet worldwide for the year, according to Twitter Korea. The tweet has garnered 35 million views, 1.3 million retweets and 3 million likes.

The death of actor Chadwick Boseman emerged as the top tweet for 2020 and according to the Twitter blog, “The world mourned the death of actor Chadwick Boseman, making the Tweet announcing his tragic passing the most Retweeted of the year and the most Liked of all time.” The tweet has garnered 2.1 million retweets and 7.5 million likes.

President Moon Jae-in emerged as the No. 1 in the 2020 Most Tweeted Politicians in Korea.
