The house rule is that whoever uses the dishes must ensure that they are washed after eating.
But 20-year-old Winnie John Ramirez appeared to have forgotten this rule and this eventually led to a fist fight with his uncle in Laoag City on Sunday night.
But it did not end there as Ramirez grabbed his improvised icepick and repeatedly stabbed his uncle identified as Wilbert Ramirez, a construction worker.
A report from the Laoag City Police Station disclosed that the elder Ramirez castigated his nephew who failed to wash the plates he used at around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. Both live in Sitio 5 Barangay 50 in Buttong, Laoag City.
What drew the ire of the younger Ramirez was when his uncle mentioned something about "eat and run" to describe him, triggering a heated argument that led to a fistfight.
“The suspect (younger Ramirez) brought out his homemade icepick and stabbed the victim thrice in the different parts of his body,” the police report read.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital while the younger Ramirez surrendered to the nearest Police Community Precinct. Wilbert Ramirez survived the attack.
But blood, indeed, is thicker than water.
Laoag City Police investigators said that the elder Ramirez decided not to pursue any case against his nephew.
