Malacañang said there is no truth to reports that there will be a nationwide lockdown from December 23 to January 3.
In a text message, Presidential spokesman Harry Roque quickly denied the circulating reports, saying these are "fake news."
Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, who co-chairs the government's COVID-19 pandemic task force, urged the public not to easily believe rumors.
He likewise discouraged them from spreading unverified reports.
"Alamin ang totoo. Huwag maniwala at huwag po magkalat ng fake news lalo na ngayong panahon. (Find out what the truth is. Do not easily believe and don't spread fake news especially during the holiday season)," Nograles said.
According to the Palace official, the public should instead continue to observe minimum health standards to avoid getting COVID-19.
"Patuloy lang po tayo maging responsable sa sarili at sa pamilya (Let us continue to be responsible for ourselves and our families)," he said.
After months of strict lockdown, the government has been easing quarantine restrictions to revive the economy.
It likewise allowed to ease physical distancing restrictions to allow the people to continue with their Christmas traditions like the Simbang Gabi or dawn masses that take place on the nights leading to Christmas.
However, the government urged the public to continue observing minimum health standards like keeping Christmas get-togethers up to 30 percent of the venue's capacity in areas under the general community quarantine to prevent the spread of the disease.
