The poll body said overseas applicants may access the online facility via https://irehistro.comelec.gov.ph/irehistro/ovf1.

Applicants using the iRehistro simply need to select the type of application they will be filing, such as registration, certification, transfer or transfer with reactivation, reinstatement of name inadvertently omitted in the national registry of overseas voters, change of name to marriage or court order or correction of entries in the voters registration record, request to withdraw the application for registration and certification pending approval, reactivation, change of address, and updating of photo and signature.

They will also be asked to provide their personal information such as their name, birth date, passport information, local and foreign residency data, and embassy and consulate where applicant intends to register and vote.

Applicants are also provided the option to set an appointment and shall then be given priority over walk-in applicants with the Philippine Embassy and Consulate of registration.

However, the poll body reminded applicants that accomplishing the online form doesn’t mean that they are already a registered voter.

"You still have to personally appear before the concerned Philippine embassy or consulate together with the printed online application forms (three copies) for QR scanning and biometrics capture to complete the filing process," the Comelec announced in its website.

"Biometrics (photograph, fingerprints and signature) capture may be done only at Philippine embassies and consulates during office hour," it added.

The Comelec said the online facility only attempts to facilitate the process of accomplishment of the application form.

"It does not automatically mean approval of your application," it said.

"The Election Registration Board (ERB) still has to approve your application on the scheduled date for the next ERB hearing," added the Comelec.

The voter registration period for the May 2022 national and local polls will run until Sept. 30, 2021.
