The bronze doors of the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros have been restored.

Father Reginald Malicdem, rector of the Manila Cathedral, led the inauguration of the newly restored doors on Saturday, December 5 after celebrating the Novena Mass in honor of the Immaculate Conception.
During the liturgical celebration, Malicdem led the prayer of thanksgiving for the successful conservation project of the Cathedral bronze doors.
According to the Manila Cathedral, the bronze doors which were installed in 1958 are a "testament to the steadfast faith story of this church."
"We are thankful that after a meticulous process of restoration by AADG Design and Construction, years of grime and dirt now gave way to the intricate details of the reliefs by Nagni and Monteleone," said the Cathedral in a Facebook post.
"By protecting and conserving these doors, may the generations to come enter through it in praise to our Almighty God," it added.
The central doors are now displayed for the public. The history and details of the bronze reliefs are also displayed near the doors.
Malicdem on Sunday also led a Mass with the Cofradia de la Inmaculada Concepcion at the Cathedral.
The Mass was followed with the recitation of the Holy Rosary while the video of last year's Grand Marian procession in Intramuros was being shown.
The Cofradia and the Intramuros Administration (IA) last October announced the cancellation of this year's Grand Marian Procession to "adhere to the government's policies in controlling the spread of the corona virus that is affecting our country and the world."
It added:"The health and safety of everybody must be considered."
Held every first Sunday of December, the Marian procession is a revival of the tradition that originated in Intramuros on December 8, 1619.
IA and the Cofradia have organized the annual festivity since 1980, with the Armed Forces of the Philippines replicating the full-force military participation during the processions of old.
