Ginebra veterans Devance, Dillinger huge help for Aguilar inside the paint
By Carlo Anolin

Coach Tim Cone made sure this time to slow down TNT's Troy Rosario inside the paint, thanks to the help coming from the big men of Ginebra.
The veteran mentor's gameplan panned out just fine as veterans Joe Devance and Jarred Dillinger, dubbing themselves as part of the "geezers lineup," were instrumental in Ginebra's 98-88 win against the TNT Tropang Giga in Game 4 of the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup Finals Sunday night at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center.
The 62-year-old Ginebra tactician intentionally put Devance and Dillinger as reinforcements in the paint to help fellow forward Japeth Aguilar focus on Rosario.
"You can't count out experience in the playoffs," Cone told sportswriters post-game. "We had a definitive gameplan coming with those guys. We were able to through at it this morning in our walkthroughs."
As a result, the three big men did not disappoint and posted impressive numbers.
Aguilar led with 22 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks, Devance chalked up eight markers, 10 boards, and two assists, and Dillinger added seven points and two rebounds.
"It was big because basically, they replaced Arvin and Scottie . Scottie was one of our physical players so we gained a lot of size," explained Cone.
On top of that, it enabled Cone to utilize Aguilar's defense over Rosario, who, despite shooting 6-of-18, tallied 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

But compared to TNT's Game 3 victory, Rosario's scoring efficiency was lower as he finished with 15 points on a seven-of-nine shooting clip and three rebounds last Friday.
Ginebra outrebounded TNT with a 55-41 difference and also converted 36 points inside the paint compared to the Tropang Giga's 42.
"t was obvious that we want to keep Rosario from trying to pin us down next to baskets like he did over Game 3. So we put Japeth on him and that kinda killed his postgame," said the 22-time PBA champion coach.
"He (Rosario) stepped out, hit a bunch of threes but it was kinda like taking choices inside or outside and that's something we're gonna have to play with because they're gonna get better. He's gotta get better play outside so we're gonna have another adjustment maybe as we go along."
With a commanding 3-1 lead, the Kings hope to close out the Finals series on Wednesday for their first All-Filipino title since the 2006-07 season.
