PAGBILAO, Quezon – Nine days after he was shot in Barangay Bukal here, former Pagbilao Mayor Romeo Portes succumbed to a gunshot wound to the face on Thursday night.

This was confirmed by his daughter, incumbent Pagbilao Mayor Shieree Ann Portes-Palicpic, who said that her father’s remains has been brought back to the family residence on Friday.

The elder Portes passed away at a hospital in Manila where he was taken after he was shot last November 24 by a still unidentified assailant.

According to a police report, Portes was sitting on a chair in front of the KGP building on J. P. Rizal Street here when a suspect arrived on a motorcycle, walked up to the victim, and shot him in the face.

The Portes family has offered a P500,000-reward for anyone, who can provide information regarding the people involved in the heinous act.

“Nagpapasalamat po kami sa inyong pag aalala at pagmamahal. Masakit man,ang amin pong ama ay lumisan na. It was a good fight. Pero nais po syang makapiling ng Poong Lumikha. Dumating na po sya sa aming tahanan. Patuloy na panalangin, Para po sa aming Ama, Para sa aming Pamilya,Para sa Bayan ng Pagbilao, at para sa Hustisya (We thank you for your concern and love. Although it hurts, our father has left. It was a good fight. But the Lord Creator already wants him to be with him. My father has come home. Continuing prayers, For our Father, for our Family, for the town of Pagbilao, and for justice),” Palicpic said.
