“More importantly, the destruction was in response to the President’s directive to immediately destroy all shabu evidence, residual or otherwise, to avoid recycling,” Villanueva said.
Through thermal decomposition, Villanueva said 1,333.09 kilograms and 5,936.70 milliliters of assorted pieces of drug evidence composed of shabu, liquid shabu, marijuana, liquid marijuana, cocaine, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) popularly known as ecstasy, meth+pipepornal, cocaine+MDMA, benzylpiperazine, diazepam, ketamine, meth+piperonal, cocaine+MDMA, benzylpiperazine, gamma butyrolactone (GBL), P2P, safrole, and toluene were destroyed.
Villanueva noted that most of the shabu that were burned were seized from the controlled delivery operation in cabanatuan City last Oct. 30, where two Chinese nationals were arrested.
On Oct. 15, Villanueva noted a similar destruction of P6.2 billion of assorted dangerous drugs were conducted at the same venue after the President ordered that confiscated contraband should be burned.
He said that PDEA is duty bound to heed the President’s order of destroying the confiscated drugs and other evidence in accordance with the law.
After the filing of the criminal case, Villanueva explained that the court has within 72 hours to conduct an ocular inspection of the seized dangerous drugs.
Within 24 hours after the said inspection, Villanueva said that the court through PDEA should proceed with the destruction of the illegal drugs.
