Notorious drug pusher killed in shootout with Bulacan police

CITY OF SAN JOSE DEL MONTE, Bulacan -- A notorious drug pusher, one of the most wanted persons in this city, was killed in a shootout with  policemen on Wednesday in Kabungan Malabon, Tower Ville, Brgy. Sto Cristo. 

Col. Lawrence B. Cajipe, Bulacan police director, identified the slain suspect as Nestor Sumido Jr. alias "Tong," 33. 

Sumido was cornered during a buy-bust operation. When he sensed that he was transacting with a police officer, Sumido drew out his gun and fired at the undercover police. A firefight ensued with Sumido sustaining multiple bullet wounds. He was rushed to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Recovered from the slain suspect were four pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of shabu with an estimated value of P8,000; one cal. 38 Armscor revolver without serial number loaded with two fire cartridge cases of cal.38 and 4 live ammunition, and the buy-bust money.

Sumido was involved in the rampant selling of illegal drugs in their barangay and has three standing warrants of arrests, two for violations of Republic Act 9165, and one for direct assault with attempted homicide.

The Bulacan police said there will be no let-up in its campaign against illegal drugs and the people behind it as ordered by Central Luzon police regional director Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. De Leon.
