It's the ending of the film "Isa Pang Bahaghari" the entertainment press are talking about!
This after select members of showbiz media were shocked at the ending of the new Nora Aunor starrer, one of 10 official entries for the Metro Manila Film Festival 2020, during a press preview held in Quezon City on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
"Isa na yata ito sa kakaibang ending na nakita ko sa Philippine movies," a veteran entertainment reporter said after the screening of the drama produced by Heaven's Best Entertainment.
Another showbiz editor: "Kakaiba ang ending. Ang galing!"
"Natulala ako sa ending. Walang kupas pa rin si Ate Guy," another entertainment editor commented.
A member of the production staff said that the ending of the movie appeared simple or easy but it was quite difficult to be shot on the part of the stars.
Multi-awarded director Joel Lamangan said that he is very impressed with the young actors in the movie.
Lamangan was referring to Zanjoe Marudo, Joseph Marco and Sanya Lopez.
"Ang galing nila! Na-impress ako sa mga young stars. Hindi sumakit ang ulo ko sa kanila," said Lamangan prior to the preview of the film.
When asked about veteran stars Phillip Salvador, Michael De Mesa and La Aunor, Lamangan said: "Hinayaan ko na lang muna sila. Pero kapag may napansin akong dapat ibahin, sinasabihan ko sila."
The parts of De Mesa and Salvador were originally intended for Tirso Cruz III and Christopher de Leon.
"Isa Pang Bahaghari" tells the story of a former seaman (Salvador) long presumed dead who tries to reconcile with his family (Aunor, Lopez, Marudo and Marco) with the help of his gay best friend (De Mesa).
Lamangan said that he is not expecting to win the best director award. "Let's give it to the young directors."
The movie was originally submitted for the 2019 MMFF but it did make it to the top 8.
Then it was accepted as an official entry to the 2020 MMFF Summer Film Festival. But it was cancelled due to the pandemic.
"Isa Pang Bahaghari" has been chosen as one of the official entries for 2020 MMFF. It will be shown on Dec. 25 via Upstream.
