'Bwakaw' to stream on Netflix this December

"Bwakaw," starring late actor Eddie Garcia, will be available for streaming on Netflix starting Dec. 16.

The film, directed by Jun Roble Lana, tells the story of "Rene (Garcia)," a gay man in his 70s who cares for a stray dog he named "Bwakaw." 

The comedy drama was first screened at the 2012 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival where it won several awards including Best Actor (Garcia), NETPAC award , and audience Award.

Garcia was also named the best actor at the 55th Asia Pacific Film Festival and at the 7th Asian Film Awards for his performance in the film.

The veteran actor passed away on June 20, last year.
