Suspect in robbery-slay of company messenger arrested

A suspect in the robbery-slay of a company messenger in Valenzuela City was collared by the police in Barangay Lourdes, Minalin, Pampanga on Tuesday afternoon. 

Police identified the arrested suspect as Jo-Anne Quijano Cabatuan, 31, resident of Ulingan West Lawang Bato, Valenzuela City. She is among the six suspects who are allegedly involved in the killing of 30-year-old Niño Luegi Hernando on October 9.

Cabatuan was served a warrant of arrest for robbery with homicide at around 5 p.m.

The police traced down the suspect's whereabouts after weeks through a series of intelligence and surveillance operations.

Cabatuan was formerly tagged by the police as a witness but was listed as a suspect after police found that she provided information to the other suspects on the victim's movements.

She is the third suspect to be arrested. The two previously arrested suspects are identified as Edgar Batchar and Corporal Michael Castro. 

The suspects at-large include Rico Reyes, Narciso Santiago, and dismissed police officer Anthony Glua Cubos. All suspects are facing charges for robbery with homicide and carnapping. 

Hernando was gunned down while he was riding his motorcycle along Maysan Road. The suspects carted away P433,000 cash that was withdrawn by the victim and his motorcycle. 

The Valenzuela city government is offering a P300,000 bounty for information on the location or the capture of the three suspects who have yet to be arrested.
