BoC disposes off expired goods, medicines and cosmetic products


The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark has disposed of  4,146kg of expired and unregistered medicines, cosmetic products, and other various abandoned goods through condemnation last Nov. 24 at Trece Martires City in Cavite.

Among the condemned goods included assorted expired medicines, food supplements, cosmetic products, and other expired food items, which were imported without the necessary permit or approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as required under Section 117 of the Republic Act 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).

The condemnation activity was made in accordance with Section 1145 of the CMTA and facilitated by the Port of Clark Auction and Cargo Disposal Unit in the presence of representatives from FDA, Commission on Audit (COA), Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) and Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS).

The Port of Clark consistently disposes of all overstaying, abandoned, seized and forfeited articles not only to maximize storage space within the port but also inform the public that such items should not be imported without compliance to existing rules and regulations of the BOC and other government agencies.  

District Collector Atty. Ruby Alameda said in a message that the Port of Clark will remain vigilant and committed to constantly dispose of these kinds of products which are injurious to public health and safety at the same time prevent proliferation in the local market.
