Davao region's COVID-19 cases surpass 6,000-mark, 891 healthcare workers affected
DAVAO CITY - A total of 6,090 cases of coronavirus disease have been recorded in the region after 137 new cases were added to the list on Thursday, November 5.
Based on the COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin, 112 new cases were from Davao City, 12 from Davao del Sur province, six from Davao de Oro, five from Davao del Norte, and one each from Davao Oriental and Davao Occidental.
The DOH Davao Center for Health Development said "all of these are local cases."
The region has a total of 1,696 active cases. Record shows that 1,030 of these or 60.7 percent are asymptomatic, 584 have mild symptoms, 76 are severe cases, and six are critical.
The region also reported seven deaths on Thursday, including four fatalities from Davao City, two from Davao de Oro and one from Davao del Sur. The total number of COVID-19 fatalities in the region is currently at 219.
There were also 59 recoveries recorded bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,175.
Meanwhile, a total of 891 healthcare workers have been affected by COVID-19.
Based on Davao Region's COVID-19 Weekly Situationer #19 report dated November 5, 222 of these cases are nurses, 110 are physicians, 70 are nurse attendants, 42 are medical technologists, and 79 are other healthcare workers. The data also includes 132 non-medical staff, and 232 non healthcare worker frontliner.
Currently, the region has recorded five deaths among the healthcare workers. Two of them were nurses and three were non medical staff.
