COVID-19 deaths in Western Visayas breach 400-mark

ILOILO CITYâ€”The death toll from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Western Visayas region has reached 405 with 15 new fatalities recorded on Tuesday, November 3.

This was bared by Dr. Jessie Glen Alonsabe, chief epidemiologist of the Department of Health (DOH-6).

Alonsabe said seven of the 15 new fatalities were from Bacolod City, while three were from other parts of Negros Occidental.

There were also two COVID-19 fatalities each in Iloilo City and Iloilo province, while Aklan province registered one new fatality.

So far, Bacolod City has registered the most number of COVID-19 deaths with 134. It was followed by Iloilo City with 90 deaths.

There were 82 people who died from COVID-19 in Negros Occidental province, 60 in Iloilo province, 29 in Capiz province, and eight in Aklan province.

The provinces of Antique and Guimaras each had one fatality each.

Meanwhile, there are now 3,033 active cases of COVID-19 in Western Visayas with, 134 new cases recorded on Tuesday. Since late March, there has been a total of 16,982 cases recorded across the region.
