UP10TION's Bitto confirmed positive for COVID-19; BTOB to be tested after 'Inkigayo' appearance

K-pop boy band UP10TION member Bitto, 24, tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

According to TOP Media, the boy band’s agency, Bitto has been confirmed to have COVID-19 today, Nov. 30.

“After the end of the schedule on the 29th, Bitto was informed that he was in close contact with a confirmed case, and was tested, and was confirmed [to have COVID-19) on the morning of the 30th (today),” the agency said in a notice.

TOP Media said all artists and staff who have had contact with Bitto are being tested for the virus. It said it will implement quarantine measures based on policies by health authorities and added that all UP10TION’s future activities have been cancelled because of the situation.

The agency apologized to broadcasters and staff for holding broadcasting activities without knowing that Bitto was in close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case.

UP10TION performed on Korean TV music show “Inkigayo” on Nov. 29 and as a result of Bitto being confirmed with COVID-19, boy band BTOB’s Eunkwang, Minhyuk, Chang-sub and Peniel will undergo testing for the virus.

Cube Entertainment told Korean media that the four BTOB members will be tested today, Nov. 30. The production crew of “Inkigayo” announced that a member of UP10TION was confirmed to have coronavirus, referring to Bitto.

The production crew has started identifying all close contacts of UP10TION through videos and CCTV footage.

Last April, K-pop boy band Supernova’s leader Yoonhak, 35, tested positive for COVID-19 after going back to Korea from Japan.
