Boat carrying relief goods capsizes in Albay


CAMP OLA, Albay – A motorized banca carrying relief goods to residents affected by typhoons Rolly and Ulysses in San Miguel Island in Tabaco City in Albay province capsized on Sunday due to strong waves.

Police Regional Office 5 (PRO-5) Spokesperson Major Malu Calubaquib told The Manila Bulletin that at least 945 pieces of food packs and 30 sacks of rice from Senator Kiko Pangilinan were wasted when the motorized banca M/B Puti skippered by Romeo Barra and Sammy Barra capsized in the middle of its voyage to San Miguel Island..

Calubaquib said that the relief goods were about to be distributed to residents in Barangay Sagurong in San Miguel Island, Tabaco City.

The occupants of M/B Puti were immediately rescued by the local residents of Brgy. Rawis, while some relief goods were luckily retrieved.
