The fun ride, staged on Monday, November 30, around the city was initiated by the Capitol Cycling Club, which is composed of employees of the Iloilo provincial government.

“Thank you, Iloilo biking community,” said Nereo Lujan, chief of the Public Information and Community Affairs Office (PICAO) of the Iloilo provincial government.

The 16-kilometer fun ride started and ended at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol. It made its way through Muelle Loney, Fort San Pedro, Calle Real, General Luna Street, Molo district, Iloilo Business Park, the bike lanes along Diversion Road, and the river park known as the Iloilo Esplanade.

Prior to the threat posed by coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Lujan explained that members of the Capitol Cycling Club have already been practicing bike-to-work, and the provincial government has supported this enthusiasm by installing bike ramps at the capitol.

Meanwhile, local officials are pushing to declare Iloilo as bike capital of the country.
