Jackie Forster defends son Kobe over 'wasted' opportunity on NBA

Just like any mother, actress Jackie Forster won't allow anyone to judge her children.

That's why when a netizen left a "negative" comment about her 23-year-old son Kobe, she couldn't help but respond to it.

"Sayang kung nakapagtiis lang sya at nag tiyaga sana nasa NBA na sya at regular ngaun si yung half hapon at half negro na kasabayan super sikat na ngayon regular na sa NBA proud ang mga Japanese sikat na sikat ngayon sa Japan," the comment read, to which Jackie noted that it's not as "easy" as everybody thinks.

"Everyone has their own battles they are facing - quietly," she pointed out.

The former wife of PBA legend Benjie Paras continued how it's not about "tiyaga and tiis."

"Some things too important to risk or sacrifice," was how she put it.

Other netizens also replied to the said comment, saying that if it's actually meant to be, it will be.

"…no need to regret what could’ve happened. It’s his life, he moved on so should you. You don’t know the whole story and me neither so we have no right to say anything about what he could’ve done better," another user wrote.

Then Jackie also replied to an online user who shared a personal story.

"… in God's time what’s meant for you will be yours! Keep in prayer and do what’s right for you at this time," Jackie commented to the latter.

In 2018 Jackie wanted to call up her estranged son whom she has not seen for 12 years.

After the conversation, Jackie booked a flight to the US to personally meet up with Kobe. Since then, they have been spending more time with each other, as well as Kobe's brother, Andre.

Benjie, a second-generation basketball player being the son of PBA legend Benjie, played one year for Creighton (2016-2017) after leaving University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) – where he originally committed – due to academic requirements.

The 20-year-old Kobe left Creighton, where he averaged just 1.3 points and 1.0 rebound in only 15 games as a member of the Bluejays, for Cal State Northridge last year – a “redshirt” this past season as NCAA rule on transferees.
