David Prowse, the original Darth Vader, has passed away

British character actor and weightlifter David Prowse has passed away at 85.

Prowse, who stood 6’5” tall, became a household name after he wore the Darth Vader suit in the original Star Wars trilogy.

Although there was much controversy surrounding his role, including his claims that George Lucas promised he would be seen and heard when Vader’s helmet was removed and that his voice was replaced by James Earl Jones, Prowse is still recognized as the OG mechanical Dark Lord of the Sith.

Prowse was made Member of the Order of the British Empire for his services to charity and works to promote road safety.
