TNT coach Bong Ravena reminds son Thirdy to be vigilant in Japan

SMART CLARK GIGA CITY--Thousands of miles apart, TNT head coach Bong Ravena could only remind his son and Japan B. League import Thirdy to take care of himself after testing positive for Covid-19.Â
A few hours after Bong's Tropang Giga downed the Phoenix Fuel Masters, 91-81, to punch a ticket to the PBA Philippine Cup finals on Friday night, Thirdy's team San-En NeoPhoenix revealed that the athletic guard was infected by the virus.Â
"Our only worry is mag-isa lang kasi siya dun. Wala siyang kasama. Helpless kami. Si Mozzy (wife) 'di basta-basta makaka-biyahe doon," said the Ravena patriarch, who bared that he already learned the bad news the morning before their win-or-go home semifinal game.Â
"Sabi nga nila na 'wag balewalain kasi nandyan pa rin, nandyan lang sa tabi-tabi, sa hangin. Kaya sabi ko talagang mag-ingat siya lagi sa pinupuntahan niya, sa paglabas," he added.Â
Thirdy on Saturday morning assured his fans that he's already feeling well after losing his sense of smell and taste and 38.2 °C.Â
"All good over here. Appreciate the love and concern over the past 24 hours. I feel well already but have to follow quarantine protocols indefinitely," said the 23-year-old cager in an Instagram post. Â
Thanks to technology, Bong and the rest of the Ravenas are keeping in touch with Thirdy.Â
"Wala rin naman ako magawa kasi nandito rin ako. Buti na lang may technology, nakakausap ko siya in real-time. 'Yun lang ang nakakagaan sa loob namin na nakikita namin siya," said Bong.Â
