President Duterte thanked China for its investments in the country as he assured the Asian giant that the Philippines remains as one of its strong partners in the Southeast Asian region.
Duterte made the taped statement during the opening of the 17th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) last Friday.
In his message posted on the Facebook page of the Chinese Embassy in Manila, Duterte thanked China for its investments in the country.
“We thank China for its substantial investments in trade, infrastructure, telecommunication, and transportation that strengthened economic integration, productivity, and financial stability in the region,” he said.
The President ensured China that the Philippines will work with all member-states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to achieve a harmonious economic collaboration in the region.
“Let us ensure a harmonious collaboration among our countries and achieve the goal of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership under the blueprint of the China-ASEAN Strategic Partnership Vision 2030,” he said.
“Be assured that the Philippines remains a strong partner in promoting the mutual prosperity of the China-ASEAN economic community for the years ahead,” he added.
Duterte recognized that the 17th China-ASEAN Expo and the 17th China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit are vital to strengthen the ties between ASEAN and China especially during a global health crisis.
“This important annual economic event is vital in strengthening multilateral ties between China and ASEAN member-states, especially now as we collectively face the challenges of economic recession and uncertainties due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
