DSWD receives 17 tablets from Heart, mobile phone brand

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has received 17 educational tablets from mobile phone and electronics brand Cherry Mobile in partnership with actress Heart Evangelista-Escudero under the project “BIG Heart PH.”

The recipients of the 17 tablets worth P59, 500 will be given to deserving high school and college students from the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY)-Guimaras, the DSWD said.

"The partnership aims to provide necessary educational tools for indigent students to help them cope with the demands of the new modality of learning,” it said in a Facebook post.

"Ms. Evangelista-Escudero firmly believes that every Filipino student has the right to access quality education regardless of their background.”

In a simple ceremony last Nov. 27, Regin Anacay, heads of the MSN Foundation Inc., the corporate foundation of Cherry Mobile, turned over the tablets to DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito Bautista and DSWD Assistant Secretary Rhea Peñaflor.

“Lubos na nagpapasalamat ang DSWD sa Cherry Mobile sa pamamagitan ng ‘Big Heart PH’ project ni Ms. Heart Evangelista-Escudero. Sigurado akong masaya ang Pasko ng mga estudyanteng benepisyaryo natin na makakatanggap ng Cherry Mobile tablets para sa kanilang pag-aaral,” Bautista said.

(The DSWD is grateful to Cherry Mobile through the ‘Big Heart PH’ project of Ms. Heart Evangelista-Escudero. I am sure that it will be a merry Christmas for student-beneficiaries who will receive the Cherry Mobile tablets for their studies)

The DSWD currently maintains 15 RRCYs, including that in Guimaras, where Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) are given values formation sessions, formal and informal education, and psychotherapy, among others.
