Thirdy Ravena tested positive for COVID-19 during his ongoing stint with San-En Neophoenix of Japan’s B.League, the team announced Friday night.
A raw Google translation of a statement released by the Neophoenix said that Ravena is undergoing medical treatment at home after taking a RT-PCR test recently at the Toyohashi City Health Center.
His mother Mozzy also confirmed the positive result to the Manila Bulletin’s Waylon Galvez and Kristel Satumbaga, adding that Thirdy is doing fine despite having lost his sense of taste and smell.
The Neophoenix also said that Ravena “reported that he was in poor physical condition” and that he had a temperature of 38.2 C, prompting the Toyohashi City Health Center to conduct a PCR test.
Ravena’s temperature, however, had dropped to 36.9 C as of Friday morning, the team also revealed.
San-En said that all members of the team are having no symptoms of COVID-19 though they had tested negative in a recent PCR test held last Monday.
Ravena has been impressive for the Neophoenix since his debut earlier this month, averaging 12.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists in five games.
He arrived in Japan last month but had to undergo a 14-day quarantine period before joining the team.
