DAVAO CITY - The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases here continued to rise with 119 more recorded on Thursday, according to the COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin.
This accounted for a majority of the 165 new infections that were reported by the Department of Health (DOH) Davao Center for Health Development (DCHD) for the whole Davao region.
The region now has a total of 8,744 recorded cases, 2,564 of which remain active.
The other parts of Davao region which logged new COVID-19 cases were Davao del Norte with 30, Davao del Sur with eight, Davao Oriental with four, Davao de Oro three, and Davao Occidental one.
It was also learned that the youngest among the 81 new cases reported last Wednesday was a one-month-old boy from Mati City. The baby had the onset of symptoms last November 18.
Davao City has already registered 6,113 COVID-19 cases, with 3,785 recoveries, and 279 fatalities.
Meanwhile, the oldest case based on the profiles of confirmed COVID-19 cases last November 25, was an 87-year-old woman from Barangay 14-B in Davao City.
The region also recorded two new deaths in Davao City bringing to 336 the total number of COVID-19 fatalities.
There were also 71 recoveries reported on Thursday.
"Among these, 56 are from Davao City, five are from Davao del Norte, five are from Davao del Sur, three are from Davao de Oro and two are from Davao Oriental," the DOH said.
