Parokya Ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda mourned the death of Slapshock frontman Jamir Garcia last Thursday morning.
On his Instagram account, Chito recalled their humble beginnings as contemporaries in the music scene. Chito revealed he did not like the late rock star at first.
"Dati, hindi kita trip," was how he put it. "Hindi ko din trip yung banda mo, and I always made sure na maging snob at mayabang sayo…or I would at least try, kasi di naman talaga ako ganun…pero gusto talaga kita yabangan everytime nagkikita tayo."
Though, he shared that he was acting like that simply because he was "intimidated" by Jamir, his band, and his crowd.
"Pero kahit anong gawin kong angas sayo, you would still always be consistently kind and soft spoken," he related. "Hanggang wala nalang talaga akong magawa kundi maging mabait din sayo kasi wa-epek yung mga pa-angas-angas ko sayo."
Chito pointed out how he didn't have the choice not to admire the band as all were first-rate "professional" and "hardworking."
"Malungkot ako na nawala ka agad, pero masaya ako na nakilala kita … Rakenrol, parekoy," he ended his post with I love you hand sign emoji, pensive face emoji, and heart emoji.
Police said that the singer hanged himself at his home in Proj. 8, Brgy. Sangandaan, Quezon City.
