BLACKPINK fans furious at 2020 APAN Music Awards for top 10 snub

The 2020 APAN Music Awards revealed the top 10 singers who excelled this year but BLACKPINK’s BLINKs are furious after the group did not make it to the list.

This year’s top 10 APAN Music Awards winners are BTS, Seventeen, TWICE, IZ*ONE, Kang Daniel, The Boyz, Monsta X, trot singer Im Young Woong, NCT 127 and GOT7.

The top 10 were selected based on fan votes, album and digital music scores, and screening by judges.

Through voting, NCT U won Best Icon, Kang Daniel was chosen Best Performance, GOT7’s JB was selected Best All-Rounder and BLACKPINK won Best Music Video.

However, the exclusion of BLACKPINK in the top 10 did not sit well with their fans. On Nov. 27, the topics “APAN RIGGED AWARD SHOW” and #ApanRobbedBLACKPINK” trended on Twitter as fans slammed the results.

Fans pointed out that BLACKPINK shined this year with their album and digital music sales and various recognitions.

“I wonder how they will continue to sabotage BP, seeing that absolutely everyone knows the great impact it had. APAN RIGGED AWARD SHOW,” one fan posted on Twitter.

“I can't believe they're blind on how BLACKPIN shined and slayed this year. The whole world witnessed that except an award show in their own country. Our girls deserve better!! APPAN a freaking rigged award show!! #ApanRobbedBLACKPINK #APAN_AWARDS_RIGGED,” another posted.

A BLINK tweeted, “To APAN Music Awards, we want an explanation, we want transparency. Give @blackpink their deserving awards! APAN rigged award show.”

“APAN’s statement clearly said that their criteria are the physical and digital sales and judges scores. now BLACKPINK is the only K-pop gg who achieved millions sales on both digital & physical, now why the hell they did not include blackpink?” a fan wrote.

The APAN Music Awards ceremony is organized by the Korean Entertainment Management Association (KEMA). As of writing, KEMA has not issued a statement regarding the issue.
