Batanes health authorities monitoring probable COVID-19 case

BATANES – This province recorded anew a probable case of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in an 84-year-old male from Barangay Imnajbu, Uyugan.

According to the provincial government, the patient had no travel history, but had a relative, who was an overseas worker who recently returned home after going on quarantine last November 2.

The patient exhibited symptoms, and initially tested positive based on a rapid antigen test. He will be subjected to confirmatory swab testing following the protocols of the Department of Health (DOH).

The provincial government said its health cluster was monitoring the patient, as well as the locally stranded individuals (LSIs), who were still completing their respective quarantines.

It also urged the general public to continue to observe minimum health protocols.

Contact tracing is ongoing while the patient is in strict isolation and observation at the  Batanes General Hospital.
